Dr. Divya’s Professional Journey

Dedicated to healing, resilience, and well-being

My Professional Journey

Dr. Divya Kannan, Ph.D., is a Clinical Psychologist with a 20 year career dedicated to psychotherapy, resilience and training of psychotherapists. Trained in the USA, she completed her Ph.D. at the University of Memphis, went on to do her Post-doctoral training at Vanderbilt University and served as Clinical Assistant Director in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at the Vanderbilt Counseling Center.

Her approach is deeply rooted in emotion-focused psychotherapy, creating space for meaningful healing and growth at a deeper level in those navigating trauma, anxiety, relationships, professional challenges, and life transitions. Alongside her clinical work, Dr. Kannan has published widely on psychotherapy, contributing to international conversations on mental health.

Since returning to India, Bangalore, in 2017, she extends her expertise to both individuals and organizations. She consults with corporates and NGOs on mental health strategy, coaching, leadership resilience, and workplace well-being.

Whether working with individuals or institutions, Dr. Kannan’s work is guided by evidence, empathy, and the belief that both people and workplaces can thrive when mental health is given the care and attention it deserves.
